Today I am thankful for the words... "Mmmm Nummy."
Seems silly. I know. But, when my toddler utters these words when all I have done is given him a glass of water or a microwaved egg it really makes me feel warm and fuzzy. He doesn't care what it is as long as it fills his belly. I know these days are numbered so I am thankful for these two words every single time I hear them!
One Thankful Momma
One Thankful Momma was created to remind myself and others that it is important to be thankful every day for the little things in life.

Day 32 - December 2, 2011
Today I am thankful for my 2011 September Sweet Peas. All 294 of them.
So, what am I talking about? A group of wonderful ladies who gathered in early pregnancy, online, as a support system for pregnancy and beyond. We found each other on www.thebump.com and later moved to a not-so-public venue through a private FaceBook group. This group consists of everything from stay at home moms, to nurses, teachers, accountants, soon to be doctors, and everything in between. We have a group mom, a group angel (God Bless Baby Dylan), a group rock, a group crazy, and much much more. All of our babies were due in September, although some arrived early and some arrived late...regardless of the actual date we all still consider ours little babies Sweet Peas.
What is so great about this group? The support system that it has created for all of us. We have ladies that post hourly, daily, weekly, and sometimes never. We love them all regardless of how often they give input because we know that regardless of their input we are helping them through the things that are being posted and read.
We support each other through everything ... here are a few things we have supported each other ... these are in no particular order ...
- From awesome husbands to awful sperm donors
- From happy, pain free pregnancy to bed rest for months
- From happy, healthy babies to not so healthy and struggling babies
- From please can I have a c-section to the person that even tries to slice my abdomen open will be forever evil
- From cloth diapering to disposable
- From breastfeeding to formula feeding
- From sleepless nights to sleeping nights
- From happy smiles to why doesn't my baby smile
- From my in-laws rock to when the heck are my in-laws leaving
- From first time mom to fifth time mom
- From being a mother is awesome to what the heck was I thinking
Why are these ladies so important to me? They are there for me regardless of the situation. I was messaging them the day I had Henry. First, after the failed NST. Then, after the failed Bio-Physical-Profile. Next, when I found out I was having a csection right then and there. (Yes, I took my phone into the bathroom to change into a hospital gown so I could post to them on FaceBook while hysterically crying.) And finally, when I was recovering from my csection, something I never thought I would be doing. I message them when I am bored, when I need support, when my toddler peed on the potty, when Henry has appointments with specialists. They are there for everything! I love each and every one of them. Maybe one day we can all get together with our wonderful families. I wonder where we will all be when our babies are 18...hopefully still talking just maybe not on FaceBook as who knows where technology will take us.
I love you Sweet Peas!

Day 31 - December 1st, 2011
Today, and everyday, I am thankful for my mom. Yesterday when I went through my FaceBook feed to copy and paste all of my 30 status' from November I realized that I had been overlooking my wonderful mother.
For those of you that don't know, the day I had Henry my husband, Brian, was working over an hour away and could not make it in time for my emergency csection. My mom was at work in downtown Baltimore and made it just in time to be there when Henry was rudely removed from my uterus. She was able to cut his cord and not pass out when she saw the doctors shoving my uterus back into my abdomen. Shortly after this Henry was whisked away to the NICU and my mom left the operating room because Brian had arrived and was a complete emotional disaster. My mom calmed him down before he got to see me...this I am truly thankful for because I was also a complete wreck.
Well to make a long story short my mom has taken off so much time from work to help us out over the last 3 months, from making it to the delivery, meeting us at Hopkins Pedi ER to help with Andrew, and watching Andrew when we had numerous doctors appointments. I always know that if I need help my mom is going to be there regardless of what she might have going on.
Oh yea, Ma, March 5th...we need you to watch Andrew....again! Love ya!

And so it begins...
Over the past few months it seems I have learned how important it is to be thankful for the little things in life. Brian, Andrew and I were blessed with Henry on Aug 24th, a little early, a little scary but most definitely a blessing. Since then we have had our fair share of scares with out newest addition. I think I have aged one year for every week of his life so far....hopefully this slows down otherwise I will be in a nursing home by the time he is one.
I am starting this blog to help myself and others remember that the little things in life are important and to remember to take time each day to be thankful for something or some one.
The month of November was month one and I posted via FaceBook status on my personal page like many others in honor of Thanksgiving. I will be continuing this in addition to my blog...which I hope I can be a bit more detailed about why I am thankful each day.
Here are my first 30 days of being thankful...bad FaceBook grammar included:
Day 1 - I am thankful for my sweet boys. All three of them.
Day 2 - I am thankful that CT power has more crews today to help my family and friends get their electricity back!
